The Department of History was established in 2016. Despite being one of the youngest
Departments of the College, it boasts of a highly qualifies set of faculty members with
intellectual, innovative and inquisitive bent of mind. The Department also has an extremely
active student centric and student led society name “Tathagat” that conducts seminars,
conferences, heritage walks, excursions etc. The students are encouraged to take up various
small and big research based project works and assignment through out their three years of
graduation period, the exercises are mentored by the teachers and enables students to gain an
deeper insight and understanding of the civilizational development of the country and its
various socio cultural facets. The students are systematically stimulated to go beyond the
conventional methods of learning and are motivated to explore newer ideas, their curiosity is
peaked through engaging discussions on various topics related to economic, cultural,
religious, political histories of Indian and the world. They are trained to question mainstream
discourses and come up with unique and perceptive observations of the society around them.
The department is known to collaborate with various organisation withing and outside of the
college for its programs and sessions in order to provide an overall growth opportunity to
our students. Department also caters to B.A Prog. Students with history option. The training
of the history discipline helps our graduates to take up various professions later in life, our
alumni have made their mark in academics, management, corporate houses, etc.
