The department of Computer Science offers B.Sc. (H) Computer Science course at
undergraduate level. The curriculum or the course structure has been designed in such a way
that the students enrolled not only gain knowledge of core computer science subjects but also
get the insight on latest technological trends.
The students are further encouraged to pursue the post graduate courses like M.Sc., M.C.A as
well as M.B.A. Students may opt to take up placements which are offered to them by
companies who keep visiting the campus because of the active placement cell of the college.
The programme also builds a base for entry level jobs in information technology and prepares
the students for higher studies in the area of Computer Science/Applications.
The new curriculum provides an opportunity for the students to choose courses from the
prescribed courses comprising core, elective/minor or skill-based courses, which helps
strengthen the students’ experience as they engage themselves in the programme of their
choice.
Also, the course offers to develop theoretical foundation in computer science in order to build
analytical, computational and problem-solving skills. The students develop expertise in
programming skills using contemporary programming languages used by software industry.
It covers core computer science topics like computer systems architecture, data structures,
computer networks, operating systems, computer graphics, algorithms, software engineering,
database management, theory of computation, artificial intelligence, and information security.
The generic elective subjects offered to the students who have opted for the courses other
than B.Sc. Computer Science (Hons) i.e BA/BSc (Hons) programme are Programming using
Python, Database Management System, Computer Networks, Information Security and Cyber
Laws for Hons courses. For BA/BCom. (Non-Hons) programme courses subjects like IT
Fundamentals, Multimedia and Web Design etc are taught.
The well qualified and dedicated faculty members provide guidance to the students for their
academic growth, higher studies, research as well as placements. The Department has modern
facilities for teaching, learning and research with three computer labs upgraded with latest
computer systems and overhead projectors. Also, students have the access to free internet
connectivity via the Wi-fi network available throughout the campus.
